Okay so I may as well get the introduction BS out of the way. I'm Cal and I'm writing this first and foremost to finally get me writing again after a much too long hiatus. It's also intended to be a way for me to track my progress and that of my mate at the gym and to be a place for me to rant about nutrition (especially ketogenic/low carb-high fat diets), workout plans and exercises, post recipes and more than likely ramble about basketball and an assorted mish-mash of things I can get motivated to write about. If all goes to plan, this will motivate me to finish my Masters in Writing. Otherwise, hopefully I'll at least finally get a goddamn six pack.
So to get this underway, here's my canned chicken recipe that I lived on for 3 weeks whilst doing a Protein Sparing Modified Fast (PSMF):
Ingredients:
- 1 can (354g) of Kirkland chicken breast (found at Costco - I <3 Costco)
- 1 jalaepeno chopped
- 1 long red chilli or 3 baby chilli chopped
- 2 teaspoons curry powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- black pepper corns
- 250-300ml of chicken stock broth stuff (Aldi stuff has the best macros and is the cheapest)
- 1/8th (or so) of chopped cabbage
- cayenne pepper
- dash of Tabasco
Method:
- Roast the dry spices and pepper corns in a saucepan, on a very low heat.
- Drain the chicken and combine with spices, gently stirring on a higher heat. I found you don't need to use oil as the chicken is pretty juicy, just make sure you keep stirring.
- Slowly stir in everything else.
- Once the broth starts to boil, simmer on a medium/low heat until the broth is reduced.
- Serve
As you can see, it's not exactly the most attractive dish and I used green chillis and jalapenos this time so it's lacking other colours. With that said however, I (and 2 friends who have tried it so far) think it tastes pretty awesome. Plus its macros (macronutrients - carbs/fat/protein) and caloric amount are pretty sweet.

I'll write more about it later but today is Day 1 of what I intend to be at least 5 weeks of ketogenic dieting. My weigh in for this evening (after dinner, as with every weigh in) is 75.2kg.
Oh yeah, in case you were wondering. Zombies have been proven to not be attracted to people who don't eat carbohydrates. Don't believe me? Check the statistics.

It's true you know. Have you ever asked yourselves why Milla Jovovich is so damn good at zombie-killing? ... No carbs. Plain and simple. That's a fact *and* you can quote me on it.
